Apryse
Apryse (formerly PDFTron) is a PDF and document processing SDK/API for viewing, creating, editing, and extracting content from PDF, Word, and image files programmatically. Unlike lighter-weight libraries focused on a single task (just generation, or just parsing), Apryse covers the full document lifecycle: rendering PDFs in-browser or in-app with an embeddable viewer component, extracting text and structured data, merging/splitting/rotating pages, adding annotations and digital signatures, redacting sensitive content, and converting between PDF, Word, and image formats.
The core engine is available as a self-hosted SDK (Node.js, Python, Java, .NET, and native mobile bindings for iOS/Android) for teams that need documents processed inside their own infrastructure without sending files to a third-party server, alongside a hosted API for teams that prefer not to manage the processing infrastructure themselves.
For Nigerian fintechs and legal-tech platforms handling loan documents, KYC files, or contracts that require in-app viewing, redaction of sensitive fields, or e-signature capture, Apryse's combination of a full-featured PDF viewer component plus server-side processing in one SDK avoids stitching together multiple single-purpose libraries. Pricing is per-developer-seat or volume-based and requires contacting sales for production use; there is a free trial for evaluation.
