Telerivet API

Organizations (NGOs, researchers, universities, and small-to-mid volume enterprises) that want low-cost, code-light SMS/WhatsApp automation and chatbot workflows in Nigeria via an Android-phone gateway or a connected aggregator, rather than businesses that need a native, high-throughput direct-carrier SMS connection out of the box.

Telerivet does not operate its own direct carrier connection in Nigeria. Nigerian SMS is reached indirectly: either by running the free Telerivet Gateway Android app on a phone with a local Nigerian SIM card (which the phone must keep powered on, connected to the internet, and topped up with airtime), or by connecting a third-party aggregator such as Africa's Talking (or another SMS shortcode/gateway provider) that Telerivet integrates with. The Android Gateway route defaults to roughly 30 SMS per 30 minutes (expandable via paid SMS Expansion Packs), topping out around 1,000 outbound / 6,000 inbound SMS per hour. This makes Telerivet well suited to pilots, NGO field programs, and low-to-moderate volume messaging, but less suited to high-throughput enterprise SMS in Nigeria without pairing it with a proper aggregator account. Pricing is usage-based (from $0.007/message with bring-your-own connectivity) plus platform fees; a free tier (50 contacts/50 messages per day) is available for testing, and specific API request-rate limits beyond the Android app's SMS cap are not publicly disclosed (exceeding them returns HTTP 429).
